A fictional stock city that runs itself
MockTradeCity is an independent project: a city with thirty-odd fictional listed companies, its own news, institutions and market makers, matching a real order book around the clock, and not a cent of real money anywhere in it.

Why this exists
Most paper-trading apps replay real market data and let you click buy and sell; the price you see has nothing to do with what you do. MockTradeCity is different: every price here is made by trading inside the city. Your orders, other players' orders, and the quotes of hundreds of virtual traders and market makers set every fill. News changes how institutions value a company. Companies list and delist. What you experience is a market behaving, not a copied chart.
Who it's for
- Anyone who wants to understand order books, bids and asks, shorting and margin with nothing at risk.
- Anyone who wants to compare trading discipline with friends under stable season rules, rather than luck.
- People who like to build something: City Coin earned by trading buys cars, homes, offices and collectibles in the city, and adds up to a life.
How the market works
- Trading sessionsOvernight, pre-market, regular and after-hours, modeled on US hours, running back to back on Eastern Time, seven days a week.
- Price discoverycome only from actual trades. Market makers quote both sides, virtual traders follow their own strategies, institutions revalue companies on the news, and your orders match against all of them in the same book.
- ledgeris the market's single source of truth: every movement of City Coin or shares is an auditable ledger entry, with no hidden bottomless funds.
- Public rules: matching, shorting, margin, securities lending, seasons and IPOs are all written down in theMarket rules.
What it isn't
It is not a broker. There are no real accounts, real trades, stock tips or investment advice. City Coin can't be deposited, withdrawn or exchanged, and simulated results say nothing about real returns. Every company, brand and headline in the city is fictional; any resemblance is coincidence.
