What we collect and why

MockTradeCity is a fictional stock market with no real money. We collect only what's needed to run it; third-party analytics and ads switch on only after you explicitly agree, and you can withdraw at any time.

1. Sign-up and account data

At sign-up we store your email, display name, username and a salted hash of your password; the password itself is never stored in plain text. Your email is used only for login, password resets and security notices, never for marketing, and never shared with third parties.

At sign-up and each login we record your IP address and browser details. They're used only for account security and abuse investigation, visible only to admins, never published and never used for ads.

Every trade, position, order, City Coin movement and season result is stored in our own database, used to run the market and show you your account. None of it involves real money.

2. Public information

Your display name, avatar, season rank, season return, consistency score and equity appear on the public leaderboard and your profile. Holdings, public returns and the rest are private by default; you choose each under Profile & privacy. City Coin balance, orders, cost and P&L amounts are never public.

3. Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: your login session and your cookie choice itself. Without them you can't stay logged in, so they're used without asking.
  • Optional cookies: set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense, and only after you agree to those uses in the cookie banner or Privacy settings.

4. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics to understand traffic. Before you consent, it runs in denied-storage mode: no cookies, no identifiers, only anonymous, cookieless counting. Only after you agree to Analytics does it use cookies and record full visit data. IP anonymization is on, and we never send passwords, City Coin balances, positions, orders or admin pages to Google.

5. Ads (Google AdSense)

Some pages show ads served by Google AdSense; the revenue covers servers and development. How ads are shown depends on your choice:

  • Until you agree to personalized ads, Google serves onlynon-personalized ads, which don't use your browsing history or personal data and set no ad cookies.
  • With consent, Google may show personalized ads based on your interests and use cookies. How Google uses ad data is described in the Google's advertising policies
  • Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland first see Google's consent dialog; their choice applies in the same way.

Login, sign-up, invitation and admin pages load no ads or analytics scripts.

6. Your choices

You can change your consent for analytics and ads at any time under Privacy settings at the bottom right of the page. Withdrawal takes effect immediately but doesn't delete data third parties already received. You can also clear cookies in your browser.

To export or delete your account data, contact us through Feedback. Once a deletion is processed, the account is disabled and your profile and leaderboard entries disappear; to keep the market ledger intact, past trades are retained in a form that can't identify you.

7. Storage and security

Data lives on servers we manage, travels over HTTPS and is backed up regularly. We don't sell or rent any user data. For privacy or security questions, email mocktradecity@gmail.com

8. Minors

This is a market simulation for adults. It isn't designed for children and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

Updates are dated on this page. Material changes to how data is used are announced in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated policy. See also theTerms of Service

MOCK MARKET NOTICE

Risk notice

This site is for entertainment, learning and experiencing how a virtual market works, with no real money. Stocks, prices, news and City Coin are all fictional; there are no deposits or withdrawals, and nothing can be exchanged for any currency or real asset. We don't open brokerage accounts, execute real trades, recommend stocks or give investment advice, and simulated results say nothing about real returns. Real investing can lose your capital; understand the risks and decide within your own tolerance.
