After Hours: quite a run today, Composite at 1,333.03
It's late, and this is Old Joe. The Composite gained 7.65% today to close at 1,333.03. If you weren't watching, you'll want to know what happened. Let me start from the top.
The name everyone was talking about was Advanced Mini Devices (AMDX), closing at 226.08, +14.19%. Amazoom (AMZX) added 13.24% too.
Across the city, 30 names up and 7 down, on turnover of 14.21B CC.
At the other end, Nucore Technologies (BWXH) gave up 11.43%, the biggest drop of the day. Broadwing Aerospace (BOIN) didn't fare much better, -11.07%.
The headline everyone was passing around was "A city drugmaker's pivotal Phase 3 trial hits its primary endpoint". A fictional broad-spectrum therapy has significantly outperformed the control group in Phase 3, pulling approval expectations sharply forward. Healthcare is being re-rated as a whole, with online medicine and health insurance businesses benefiting alongside.
From the sectors, I noted one: Several Healthcare companies see installed base growth slow. A sector-wide move in Healthcare: Longer institutional purchasing cycles are weighing on new installations.
Coffee's finished and so am I. Good night.
